Directors
In line with the aim of the German Judicial Academy’s sponsoring bodies to highlight the Academy’s supra-regional and federal character, the Director, who heads the Academy and its two branches, is appointed only on a fixed-term basis – usually for a period of three years. There is no stipulation as to which judicial administration provides the Director. The decisive factor is the pool of applicants.
The Director is based in Trier but, in accordance with the administrative agreement, must also carry out their official duties to an appropriate extent from Wustrau. The Director advises the Programme Conference on the preparation of the annual programme, coordinates the conference schedule at both venues and supports the federal and state judicial administrations organising the conferences in the planning and implementation of the events. He or she reports to the Programme Conference on the results gathered during the conferences and on his or her own findings and experiences, and is also required to submit proposals for new training concepts to the Programme Conference as required.
Until 1986, the official title was Managing Director.
