Political Extremism – A Challenge for the Society and for the Judiciary

The conference is aimed at judges from all branches of jurisdictions, as well as public prosecutors.
Political extremism in its different forms – especially right wing extremism – poses a great many challenges for liberal democracy.
Starting by presenting the current state of extremist scenes and the various different concepts concealed behind the collective term “political extremism”, the various causes and manifestations of extremist activity are analysed from diverse angels. The effects on our domestic security are investigated, and the opportunities for appropriate and effective reactions by public authorities as well as reactions by civil society are discussed. In so doing, the role of the judiciary and the role of criminal law fight against terrorism on a national and an international level shall be illuminated.

This conference is also being convened as part of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN). It is particularly suitable for foreign participants.
