German-Japanese Conference

theme No.: 16c
responsible federal state: North Rhine - Westphalia
date: 08.05.2023 - 12.05.2023

This conference addresses judges and general prosecutors with a special interest in a legal comparison with Japanese law.
In 2011, Germany and Japan celebrate 150 years of relations between both countries, amongst others in the fields of law and justice, with a year of friendship. Numerous German legal experts have contributed to developing Japanese law upon the request of the Japanese government and that is why both legal systems have common roots. The influence of American law is also uncontested in both countries.
Up to now, frequent exchanges between both ministries of justice as well as between judges and general prosecutors have taken place. This exchange of ideas on the legal systems of two important economic nations with comparable problems will also be the topic of this conference.
