Forensic interrogation of children: potential and limitations of video interrogation

This conference addresses criminal judges and public prosecutors. It aims to provide an interdisciplinary perspective on the interrogation of children in criminal proceedings.
The first part of the conference will address the psychological groundwork for the forensic interrogation of children. It deals with issues of developmental psychology as well as a child-oriented interrogation technique.
The second part of the conference will deal with video interrogation in criminal proceedings and elaborate on the basic legal principles and the practical implementation in the preliminary investigation and the main trial. In addition, it will review aspects of victim protection.
The interrogation of child victim witnesses is regularly conducted in cases of child abuse. Therefore, a third part of the conference will focus on the forensic questions that frequently occur in this context. In addition, the Childhood House in the town of Heidelberg will be introduced.
