Ways to inner independence

theme No.: 36c
responsible federal state: North Rhine-Westphalia
date: 13.11.2023 - 17.11.2023

The seminar is aimed at judges of all courts and public prosecutors.
The judicial power is commissioned to judges; judges are independent and subject only to the law. These constitutional decisions do not only have protective effects, they also contain the judges´ duty to preserve their – outer and – inner independence. This inner independence describes the judges´ ability to free themselves from possible influences on their decisions.
What does that mean? Where and how do such factors to influence the judges´ decisions come into effect? Which decisions, which personal background do I bring with me? What did impress me and what leads me today? How do I detect my preunderstanding and basic concept?
The seminar is aimed at tracing such factors. Such awareness enables to disengage oneself from such factors and gain inner independence. It contributes to understand one own behaviour and the connection between attitude, job-related issues and private life. It offers the chance to interrupt ancient response patterns and expand new behaviour to work and hear cases more effectively. The handling of stress and conflicts can become more effective; possibilities to regenerate body and soul and to get new energy will be strengthened. Furthermore, possibilities of self-awareness and self-knowledge, amongst others in body orientated and meditative practices, will be offered.
