Selected Issues in Criminal Law and Criminal Proceedings

This conference is aimed at judges in criminal courts and public prosecutors. The lectures and discussions are in part interdisciplinary and deal with current issues in the area of substantive criminal law and criminal proceeding. While taking the current legislation and the decisions of the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) into account, especially the following issues will be discussed:

•  rules on motions to take evidence
•  plea agreements in criminal cases
•  appeals on points of law
•  impact of European law on national criminal proceedings

Additionally, current issues in law of criminal procudure, both in pre-trial proceedings and during the trial as well as current phenomena and offences in substantive criminal law, e.g. from the area of internet crimes, will be covered.
