Constitutional Law in the Practice of Criminal Courts

The conference is aimed at criminal judges and prosecutors.
In its quality as higher-ranking law, constitutional law immerses in particular substantive criminal law as well as the criminal procedure. When interpreting criminal law and criminal procedural norms, the fundamental rights of those involved in the proceedings must always be taken into account. The conference’s aim is to sharpen the sensitiveness for these dilemmas in criminal law practice and to deepen the participants’ knowledge in the field.
It will for example deal with:
  • The impact of fundamental and human rights on substantive criminal law and sanction practice
  • The case law of the Federal Constitutional Court on pre-trial detention and criminal procedural investigative measures
  • Constitutional implications in the main criminal hearing
  • The constitutional complaint against criminal court decisions
  • Constitutional law and the execution of sentences.
