English Law II (Advanced Module)

The seminar is aimed at judges of all courts as well as at public prosecutors.
The former participation in a basic module (English Law I) or otherwise acquired comparable knowledge in the English legal terminology and in the Common Law system is required. The conference language is English. Therefore, the participants must adequately master that language.
The seminar aims to deepen the legal knowledge of the participants in chosen areas (attorney and client relationship, constitutional law, contract law, tort law, medical law, property law, and criminal law). In addition to this, the participants learn to discuss cases according to the so-called “Socratic method”. The participants must be ready to actively contribute to the success of the seminar.
The seminar is organised in co-operation with the Law School of Norwich University of East Anglia (UEA). The contributors are all lawyers in various legal areas. The vast majority of them are native speakers.
