date: 10.07.2023 - 13.07.2023

This conference addresses criminal judges and public prosecutors who primarily deal with organized crime.
In addition to theoretical principles and helpful hints on how to manage large-scale criminal proceedings, this seminar includes an experience report on a large-scale proceeding dealing with gang handling of stolen high-end vehicles, the proceeding having been closed by a state security criminal chamber after approximately one year.
This experience report will look into a large number of criminal trial-related problems that occurred in the proceeding, e.g.:
  • Organization and trial management
  • Confrontational defense strategy
  • International legal assistance in the investigation procedure
  • Problems associated with the corona pandemic with a view to the administration of justice
  • Overwhelming procedural subject matter
  • Managing the access to records with new investigational results coming in continuously
  • Absence of an associate judge
  • VI – video interrogations
  • Threats to public prosecutors and other persons involved in the proceedings
  • Presentation of evidence regarding insight based on phone calls held in a foreign language
  • Collection of thousands of confiscated items of looted property.
