The seminar is aimed at the family court jundges.
As a family court judge, you need psychological expertise to make good decisions. The legislature has now also taken this into account by obliging family court judges in § 23b III S. 3 GVG to acquire, among other things, verifiable basic knowledge of psychology, in particular the developmental psychology of the child, and communication with children.
This comprehensive online basic course aims to do just that. You will learn about the stages of child development and how they affect child hearings, take an empirical look at irritating topics such as alienation, contact arrangements and custody under the aspects of attachment and resilience research, and learn to recognise academically outdated models and ideologically charged opinions in expert reports. De-escalation and appropriate discussion techniques are discussed in order to bring disputing parties back to the table.
This course also aims to change your working methodology: you will be given the opportunity to uncover systematic, psychologically induced thinking errors and heuristics and to reflect on your own decision-making behaviour in order to become a more effective lawyer.
