Derecho Español II (Advanced Module)

theme No.: 19a
responsible federal state: German Judicial Academy
date: 05.06.2023 - 09.06.2023

The seminar aims at judges from all jurisdictions and at public prosecutors. Previous participation in a basic module (Derecho Español I) or otherwise acquired comparable knowledge of Spanish legal terminology and the Spanish legal system is required.
The seminar will be held in Spanish. The participants should thus have a decent general knowledge of the language and the Spanish legal system.
Building up on module I, the speakers will provide participants with in-depth information of legal fields, such as tort law, family law, and criminal law (fight against juvenile crime; sentencing). Moreover, speakers will elaborate on the interplay between the Spanish and Latin American legal systems. Case studies and discussions will allow participants to improve their language and their knowledge of Spanish law.
The seminar is organised in co-operation with the Law Faculty of Münster University. The main lecturer is a native speaker who has worked for several years as a public prosecutor in Paraguay. The other lecturers will be practitioners from Spanish jurisdictions.
